Blizzard Entertainment makes a huge move in Dragonflight by listening to the feedback from the players. It’s our promise to modernize mythic+, namely mythic+ affixes. In Dragonflight season 2, three old affixes are leaving and three new ones are coming to a new place, but the World of Warcraft community is not happy with these changes.
On March 28th, a ballroom winner revealed that Volcanic, Grievous and Quaking are out of the Mythic+affix pool, and Afflicted, Entangling, and Incorporeal are here to take their place.
Since the new Mythic+ affixes work in the PTR development notes, the community began to talk about how he or she doesn’t like taking over a subreddit. In a post posted in March 29, players agreed that these new Mythic + affixes could be more efficient than the problem solving.
The biggest problem players see with this new affix is that they will force you to use your cooldowns to deal with the affix, and you won’t have any cooldowns to deal with the actual dungeon mechanics, especially with dungeon mechanics in Dragonflight.
When those spells are created out of you by the affix, then they are being used as a dungeon mechanic, so you just get fucked when the situation happens. The problem is exaggerating. For some other mechanics it’s an instant wipe that forces you to spread. The worst case for this required multiple hotfixes and quaking, is being retired too, and they now just re-invent the same problem again, noted one player.
The other problem that players assume will arise is the balancing or, rather, the combining of the affixes. To solve the problem of entangling when paired with Sanguine affix, player might end up in Anguine Ichor fighting for their lives.
In a different post from March 29, players conclude that most difficult affixes are being removed and more demanding affixes are becoming more demandful.
I can’t even understand removing Volcanic and Quaking.. that were almost free affixes. Perhaps because it was so difficult for Blizzard to fix it, that it wasn’t working if many dungeon mechanics, such as Second and Third boss in SBG, Virtual Portal transition to Fenryr, etc., the player explains.
There are some types of classes and specs who may only be pushed out of the meta unless players can find what they have mastered, a problem that can eventually take the new Mythic+ affixes. Classes that have no utility or niche utilities that are impossible to apply to these affixes will likely not have a good time during the second season.
This new affixes will certainly undergo changes and tweaks before they see the light of day on live servers. So, let’s wait for a final judgment of the files, before making your final decision.
