After weeks of testing and monitoring, Dragonflight Patch 10.1 is nearly finished to perfection and will be released on May 2nd. Although the World of Warcraft Patch will reward many classes and specs with generous buffs, one of the worst classes is missing in the patch notes.
For the majority of Dragonflights, Mages are a high-level class for both PvE and PvP content and you’re better off with a Priest or a Warlock. Although Patch 10.1 offers many quality-of-life updates for Shadow Priests and other classes, it doesn’t even mention Mages.
Unlike Hunters, which has easily been one of the top-performing classes this expansion and once again gained attention from Blizzard, Mages are a small class that can’t even start competing. That is not all, their tier set bonuses are underwhelming and won’t make any major changes in the class’s balance once you get them.
The words of Liquids guild captain and raid leader Max Maximum Smith on the 18th of April, he said: “My mouth is out of fashion”. Their class is high and their whole class isn’t powerful.
The Dark Knight, to the beginning of the Dragonflights, elondonese and gondoladagools named as mythic+ dungeons and Vault of the Incarnates with their overly complex rotation and unparalleled DPS when played properly. Fire and Frost Mages, on the other hand, didn’t enjoy this treatment from Blizzard, and haven’t appeared in any note or hotfix since Patch 10.0.5, when the devs slightly buffed their overall damage.
It’s only two weeks after Patch 10.1 comes to the live servers. It’s highly unlikely that its highly unlikely players will see major changes in the class in this patch. But there is still hope that Blizzard might help the class if the devs see it struggling. If Mages again evades buffs in Patch 10.1, players can only pray for updates in future Dragonflight patches.
