Evokers will have a new questline introducing the Augmentation spec in Patch 10.1.5 – in which we finally awaken Adamanthia, the black dragon who we found in stasis on the Forbidden Reach!

Adamanthia

In Patch 10.1.5, Evokers will be summoned to meet Ebyssian and Emberthal in the Forbidden Reach. All Evokers have begun to feel more complete – as if something inside them has been released – and Ebyssian explains it has to do with Adamanthia.

I am glad to see you, evoker.

You look… better. More whole. I never noticed before what the lack of that black dragonflight essence was doing to your people.

When the dracthyr were in stasis, your essence was being sapped and collected in this horrifying prison for Adamanthia. Destroying the outer wards released the essence but the prison still holds for now.

I have decided I intend to free this dragon and give her a chance. She might have fallen to corruption, or driven mad, but she deserves a chance.

Adamanthia was the black dragon who we found trapped in stasis during the story of Patch 10.0.7. Players may also remember Adamanthia’s journals, where we learned how she was tasked by Neltharion to help train Evokers, and eventually punished for advocating that they be trusted with their free will. Though they were weary at first, Ebyssian and Emberthal have agreed it’s finally time to free her.

Ultimately, the prison Adamanthia was kept in has not only held her in stasis, it drained Evokers of an important part of their power: The power to augment others!

Scalecommander Emberthal says: I feel more like… myself. I can access power I had forgotten.
Ebyssian says: That is good. Now, on to this poor dragon.
Scalecommander Emberthal says: Take care, Ebyssian. From what I recall, Adamanthia was good to us, but she was not always kind.
Scalecommander Emberthal says: She knew how to train weyrns for war.

At first, Adamanthia is confused and angered, but we use our new Augmentation powers to stay safe while Emberthal talks her down.

Adamanthia says: No! No! I will not go back into that prison! I will not be forgotten! NEVER AGAIN!
Scalecommander Emberthal says: Please! Adamanthia! We mean you no harm. You are not in danger.
Adamanthia says: Usurpers! What have you done with my dracthyr? What have you done TO my dracthyr?
Adamanthia! It is me… it’s Emberthal. Do you remember?
Adamanthia says: I will… I… Emberthal?
Adamanthia says: Emberthal… is that you, child? You are awake… and I sense… Evoker <name>… your minds…
Scalecommander Emberthal says: We are free of his influence. We are now our own people.
Adamanthia says: Free? How? I… oh no… I nearly killed you and <name>!
Scalecommander Emberthal says: You taught us how to survive draconic attacks. Now rest. There will be time to talk. You have missed a lot, and we have much to discuss.

By the end, Adamanthia is sleeping peacefully. At the moment, the questline rewards the battle pet Nelthara.

Speaking with Ebyssian after this quest reveals that though she knew Neltharion personally, Adamanthia herself was kept safe from corruption – an incredible distinction all on its own. Whatever her decisions going forward, it feels certain that she will help form the destiny of the Black Dragonflight.

She is free, and I sense none of Deathwing’s corruption in her.

For better or for worse, the prison shielded her from the madness that consumed Neltharion and his flight.

Now she will need time to heal. Whether she chooses to become — an ally, a foe, or free of the dragonflights — the decision is hers.

Thank you for your help today, <name>. You have shown what the essence of the black dragonflight was meant to be: we empower and mentor, not dominate and enslave.
