The peaceful woodlands to the south of Stormwind City seem more tranquil than ever since the fall of the Defias Brotherhood, but the inhabitants of Elwynn Forest are hardly idle. There are fields to sow, mines to work, and lumber to harvest. For all its pomp and grandeur, Stormwind wouldn’t last long without a constant stream of food and supplies to support the city’s population. This exchange has become increasingly threatened by kobold invasions, vicious feuds among farmers, and attacks from wild animals. Northshire Abbey remains dedicated to recruiting and training any adventurers brave enough to help keep the peace. Likewise, the Blackrock orcs are gathering their forces in the nearby Redridge Mountains. With Stormwind’s militia stretched thinner than ever, these renegade orcs stand ready to finally annihilate their old human enemies in Elwynn Forest.

  2. I was two years late starting the game, so I played through these areas in what looked like an empty world. I can't imagine how beautiful this game was back when those areas were populated.

  3. Everything exists for the sole purpose of growth, GDP, marketing and staying afloat so that the money can keep going in so the money can keep going out. This part of the game was where it could make it feel standstill. Existence somewhere outside the hamster wheel. That is until it became the very thing.

  4. "So, I have this idea for a great movie. It's about two gnomes who find a bracelet of power, and they have to take it to the Burning Steppes and cast it into the Cauldron. They form the Brotherhood of the Bracelet. Along the way they're trailed by a murloc named Gottom, who's obsessed with the bracelet, and nine bracelet bogeymen. It could be a three-parter, called 'Ruler of the Bracelet'. The first part would be called 'The Brotherhood of the Bracelet', followed by 'A Couple of Towers', with the climactic ending called 'Hey, the King's Back!'"

  5. We will never experience this again. It's impossible, because it has already been done. There will never be a huge line to wait for the release of a game, there will never be such curiosity about such games – we are used to it. That's okay, otherwise it would cheapen memories. It is best to look forward to new unexpected experiences

Of course it's less likely we will get something on such a huge scale. The last time I had so much fun in a game was with Minecraft. Sure, there was also Witcher 3 and RDR2, but these games are very rare.

  6. I started playing vanilla when I was about 16, it became my life and I had plenty of sessions playing on both factions. While I played Horde mainly, out of all the zones, Elwynn forest is the one that truly stands out and pokes the nostalgia-buttons. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, the slight urgency of their local struggles, yet the serenity of its calm nature.

Difficult to put into words, yet reading the comments here makes it clear there are thousands, perhaps millions of us, who ultimately feel the same.

Makes me sad to think of all the people who didn't get the chance to experience it.

  7. This game was just pure joy. I'm so grateful for the time I had, the memories I still possess. However, I am very sad that it will never come again. No matter what controversy Blizzard gets up to, many of us owe them a big thank you 🙂

  8. Would love another mmo where your goal is still exploration… Where you can't find every single piece of information on the internet… Oh how I miss those simple times. I don't know how often I've quested through this area back in the days and I still love this simple music.

  9. Of all the places that World of Warcraft offers, somehow I keep finding myself back in Elwynn Forest, if only for a time here and there. Perhaps due to it being where many start their journey in World of Warcraft, and some nostalgia that comes along with the music and atmosphere of the zone.

  10. the mid to late 2000s for this game man… it actually brings me to tears reminiscing of the music, areas, characters, being a noob and dying a million times to playing the game so long and hard i’ve become a legend. It all seemed to fade into obscurity but throughout my life i keep coming back to this game. 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, now im gonna run my pc up and play this again. I love you WoW!
