While yesterday’s hotfix notes and spell data indicated that Mythic Sarkareth had a 10% nerf to Oblivion damage, it appears from logs that damage per stack of Oblivion on Mythic has been reduced by a massive 33%, from 15,830 to 10,619.
As seen in this pre-nerf log, 1 tick of Oblivion hits for 15830 unmitigated damage. However, in this post-nerf log, 1 tick of Oblivion hits for 10619 unmitigated damage.
When Blizzard hotfixed Oblivion, they changed the base value for Oblivion from 3 to 2.7, which should indicate a 10% nerf. So despite this and the notes saying it should be a 10% nerf, why are we seeing a 33% nerf?
Our Frost Mage writer, Dorovon, has a theory and that’s that the formula that is used when calculating the damage of Oblivion on Mythic isn’t accounting for the decimal, which would parse that the spell went from 3 to 2, and matching the seen 33% nerf. This is not confirmed but it could actually explain why this behavior is being observed.
It’s unclear if Blizzard will fix this since it seems unintended but if you’re going for Hall of Fame, this will surely help out! Oblivion is the biggest source of damage across the encounter so a 33% nerf to the biggest source of damage significantly reduces the healing requirement.
