10.1 Narrative Campaign Hints on the Dragonflight PTR

Aside from the name, which may only be a small piece of the upcoming content patch, this doesn’t tell a whole lot, but that won’t stop us from speculating! Datamined strings during the Dragonflight alpha referenced a Dragon Isles Underground, leading us to theorize where an underground setting might take us – one of those ideas involved an ancient black dragon lair, as the flight was fairly well known for making their homes in underground caves and caverns, and the name “Embers of Neltharion” would seem to reinforce that connection. Finding a clutch of uncorrupted eggs could prove to be a major boon to the beleaguered flight, though that storyline was already touched on in the retaking of the Obsidian Throne questline in the Waking Shore.

Of course, we can’t forget the conclusion of the Vault of Incarnate storyline, with the defeat of Raszageth coming too late to stop her from freeing her fellow Incarnates. One of those freed was Iridikron, the Stonescaled, oldest and most powerful of the Primal Incarnates. Described by Alexstrasza as the most feared of the Incarnates, his affinity with the earth makes for an obvious candidate for the main threat in Patch 10.1. What exactly this has to do with Neltharion remains to be seen, though as the progenitor of the Dracthyr and a major influence on the prime dragonflights, his legacy permeates everything throughout the Dragon Isles.
