Not sure how I feel about that, Phase 1-3 MCU maybe, pretty much everything post end game has had terrible writing and storylines. Not that everything before end game was a master piece (Looking at you thor: the dark world), but there is a significant downgrade after end game.
After BFA and Shadowlands going off the rails it’s nice having Dragonflight being a step up, but even it has it’s flaws.

I can’t think of a phrase that would’ve made me wretch more than “MCU-style expansions”.

I don’t want wow and marvel to be in the same sentence. The marvel direction will be the death of this game

I think what they ment was having a great story arc that is told in multiple expansions (movies) but players (viewers) can enter any time without being lost. This is what the MCU (until end game) made pretty fine, people could start with a later movie and still understood what was going on.

If future cinema for WOW please make animated in the same style as WOW is now. The Warcraft Universe should not look like the Warcraft movie.

My friend… MCU always had bad writing, you are just letting your Nostalgia talking.

and there are a lot of stories that they want to wrap up and characters they want to revisit
hoping for a better revisiting and wrapping than what we got in SL.

I wanted a good live action movie for Warcraft, but after what they did with that attempt, I agree. Just do animated movies or series.

I really really hope they either get new writers for their grand plan or kick the existing ones in the butt to really bring out the potential of the Warcraft universe. The lore has been horrific since Shadowlands and almost Disney-esque recently which hurts as someone who largely plays for the story. They literally copy pasted the Avengers for the encounter between Alexstrasza and Fyrrak. The game deserves better and if Danuser and co. are incapable of doing it, let someone with more talent at it.

Not a MCU fan. I like the darker, heavier stuff. Marvel is too light for me.
Also, not a fan of a tag team. I prefer the spotlight on one guy while the rest are side characters. So, yeah…..this direction does not sound too good for my tastes.

Transparency is the way forward.
Said after they pulled the ZC Rares hotfix and then double-downed on the stupidness after a week of player outcry.
They have ALWAYS trotted out that line or a derivative at the end of or the lead-up to a new expansion and they never deliver. They just get worse and worse as far as player interaction and feedback goes. And now the community council is up in arms because they’ve realized Blizzard doesn’t give a #$%^ about them either, except as a PR stunt back when all the legal troubles started happening.

It’s really funny seeing people pretend they always hated Marvel, eschewing it for real cinema.
Guarantee you nerds were getting excited for Winter Soldier and Endgame and whatever else, back when it wasn’t cool to hate marvel.

Yeah. It’s not good that they say that, talk up story, but still haven’t apologize for the obvious train-wreck that is Shadowlands and really the whole BFA arc leading up to it as well. That has done permanent damage to the game’s lore, it’s a bleeding open wound and unlike the sword in Silithus it’s not even a situation where they’re ignoring it exists, they continue to reference it.
I don’t care about any talk about better story from people who have destroyed the best lore the game had and still don’t feel like they did and still are incapable of apologizing. As long as that wound is there WoW is not going to succeed with anyone who seriously takes a look at the whole of the lore. Sure it’ll win fans among those who just play the expac, do the raid, enjoy the cinematics and big bads but anyone who wanted to RP in a coherent universe, invest in it and understand the whole, has been screwed over. And maybe that’s the intent, the people who only pay attention to the rousing raid music and cinematic type story don’t care if things are retconned 4-6 years later, they don’t care about plot holes, about confusion that necessarily should exist for living intelligent beings in Azeroth after all that they did with that. It’s all about like Marvel those big showy fight moments, the big bads, the big triumphs, the big music blasting you and bullying you to feel what they want you to feel.
As an RPer however I still weep. I can’t take these people seriously after the betrayals, the backstabbing, Chronicles, SL retcons, SL developments, etc. And hundreds of thousands if not over a million feel similarly and showed it by quitting during that period and not coming back since.
Also it’s laughable to suggest more movies. Made for Netflix cheapo CGI animatic type productions maybe, but they lost big with their huge Hollywood opener and that was with Metzen present and involved as well and Hollywood is not going to forget, forgive, etc. They made a big mistake with the story-line they chose to open with and it was a flop, only saved from losing money by the Chinese box office (and didn’t make money, still making it a bomb) and I doubt MS is going to pony up the cash up front in the amount of several hundred million dollars to get a studio to distribute for them.
They should also face there are a lot of fantasy IP’s in the public consciousness right now vying for Hollywood adaptations, most of them much better known to a wider part of the public than Warcraft (with it’s tarnished image, tattered lore mangled by decades of retcons and reversals leaving wide confusion even among those who were previously fans at various points). Also most of them much better written, more thoroughly explored, expanded upon without confusing retcons and bad story choices that alienate fans. WoW /was/ a cultural phenomenon, in the late 2000s and early 2010s, that was when they should have done a movie. Now they can’t even do a Lich King movie (which everyone thought they should have as an opener in the first place) because they mangled that lore so they’d have to introduce or hint at the jailer as pulling the strings and audiences would pan it as gamers panned it.

I can guarantee you I was not excited about whatever you’re talking about. I had to look up “MCU” to see what it stood for. I’ve never seen a Marvel movie, no interest at all.

In my opinion, this looks really cool what they are doing. For me, when it comes to things I like (Like World of Warcraft) I’m easy to please. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future of World of Warcraft.

The story lines in Dragonflight were too much about family, friendship, respect, forgiveness, compassion, acceptance. It’s like written for young children. Where’s the war and hatred? I’m not asking for things to become dark, gritty and edgy, but there’s gotta be some balance. The writers are playing it way too safe, and it makes things boring and bland.

I just don’t think a “good” story is possible anymore and it’s time to accept it. Lore being awful goes back to at least Cata where the dragons lost their power for no reason. Even in Lich King, the hallmark expansion, killing Malygos is out of nowhere and was just done because dragon fights are cool. Not to mention Nerubians and frost trolls. Over the years I’ve constantly read theories that sound so exciting just for Blizz to do the most boring, nonsensical story possible. There was literally a world war a couple years ago but now everyone is friends. It’s bad and will always be we’re just addicted.

To be fair, you’ve been a horrible critic for the entirety of the franchise. You’ll never be happy.
