And people burn me when I say 78 EUR for a repaint on an existing mount is not value for money… I even took into account those teams working on expansions that sells less at their most expensive price and how demeaning to their work that must feel. But oh well, people want to park their 78 EUR ah in front of the ah cause that makes perfect sense….
Took a single dev one day to make that skin. As a business, it’s an absolute no brainer to pump skins and micro transactions into gaming. The trick for publishers is to make sure the dev teams produce the minimum viable product for These games that people will play. If people play (like foot traffic in a store), they will see the cosmetic items (impressions) and some will buy the super easy and cheap to make items (skins ect)
So, in translation, if we want less micro transactions in games, stop buying the games with micro transactions, or at least stop buying the micro transactions themselves. That is the whole ballgame, stop rewarding bad games.
Ill never forget that damn horse armor they released for Oblivion… Cause heck, I'll shell out that extra cash for maps, expansions, ect. for the games I love. But no matter the multiple hundreds of hours I spent in Oblivion I refused to spend, what was is it? $3? $5 for any single item in any game. Especially something as laughable and unneeded in the game as that damn armor was.
I don't think the 2 are comparable. The game itself of course is gonna be expensive to make. Microtransactions wouldn't be possible without a good base game (which was expensive).
I recently tried out Fortnite and met someone with a mic and was friendly so we played a few games together…. Anyways, I learned that this guy had spent $7,000 on skins clover the years. Said he has a problem and is learning not to buy every new skin that comes out 😬
CoD players buying skins that have no meaning and value every month. Blow my mind. I’m guilty of buying CS skins. But at least I’ve sold and actually made money off of skins lol
They originally said that sparkle pony was going to be sold in limited quantities so most people bought them FOMO. Then they were like, due to popular demand, it's available to everyone to buy! Then my flying mount I paid money got never got used because everyone was flying around on them. Don't FOMO buy anything.
That's not a meme, that's very very sad.

That's what ruined gaming, no point to build a good game. Just add shit tons of things people can buy

After this i feel so proud for never having spent a dime on any cosmetic or microtransaction except ones that give content such as dlcs

This didnt age well. 90 dollar mount.
thor didn't explain with squares so i don't understand
Give the majority power and they will oppress the minority. 😢😂🤑🧨…….
Crazy fact actually, i have never thought a second a single item could be more profitable that a whole game !
2 years of overtime on a 40k ripoff lol
Yep. And bo2 was the first to start it with those dumb camos that ehy would sell for like 2 or 3 bucks
I waited 10ish years for SC wings of liberty … sadge
I heard starcraft 2 wasn't a very good game. maybe that also mattered.

Make a better game? Lol
microtransactions model has been revolutionary, even if in most cases i hate it

Imagine buying shit in WoW

Easy money have brought Dutch disease into games.
Some people are so poor that all they have is money. So dont be sad. starcraft 2 is a good game! Thanks to you and your team overtime. 😊
Thanks thor I played Wings of Liberty for Like 4000 hours+
Hope he got paid at least for the overtime. I worked a decade in roofing and they dont pay overtime for some illegal reason
15$ is like my final price on a whole game.
I appreciate SC2 now even 12 years later…
I bet this had a lot to do with the tech. Our computers could run SC wow and warcraft2 but sc2 wouldn't run on my pc at the time
Yeah but like.. the skin only has value because of the development in wow
I'm one of the dipshits who keep buying mercy's skins
And just think, everyone, that's just 1 microtransaction in the game that did numbers like that.
Imagine how much the Gilded Long boi made them versus SC2
The only Blizzard game my friends and I play is StarCraft 2 none of us have or plan on paying a cent for that game
Dips qlso buying rtx 4090s too… Guess what a 5090 will cost? More than $1600 I'm guessing
This is even more funny today with the recent long boi sale
society….pathetic construct…..
