The new developer, called Embers of Neltharion, is based on this Developer Insight.
One of the features in Embers of Neltharion content update made available for Dragonflight season two is the new upgrade system, which will replace a sydney-like version of many of the existing upgrades such as stricken and sydney with a single one-layer system that covers most of the game. This system will last for the duration of season two. We will see that at once how well it’s working and if we want to keep it.
The Gnome-Sized version is available.
This is a simple system: you earn a new currency called Flightstones, you can get from just all the pieces you do, such as, complete a world quest, troll the unique creature, twy the dungeon demons, teel the boss, etc. You can also get items called Shadowflames (or a bunch of things, so varying) in different types. Shadowflame Crests and their fragments will also come from a wide range of content, including outdoor game, Ithic+ dungeons and raids. You could upgrade a lot of items from The World Quest to the ‘Mythic raid’ if you spend Flightstones and Shadowflames.
There are three categories of gear not included in this system. The first is a kilovan, which will be upgraded by recrafting like it now. I guess there is also a PvP gear that doesn’t include this upgrade. PvP gearing will continue working exactly as in Dragonflight’s first season. The material that didn’t exist for this upgrade is quite extraordinary. Anything that is as standard as a Mythic Raid won’t be upgradable. If you want the best gear, and your way into the Hall of Fame for the new raid, you’ll still need to earn gear from the drops.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that everything here is optional. You don’t need to buy or sell this system. Youll still see gear drop at the same rate. This system is meant to increase and supplement your gearing journey, not to replace it.
Old Gods are in the Details.
The details matter with a much larger set of scope. They’re really good for you.
Flightstones are, the same way as most of the world’s do-it-your-kind-kind-making-games. There’s no weekly limit, but if you are running low or wanting more, you can continue to play the game and get more. You can only get limited on the amount you can hold-though the holding cap is relatively high at about five times the most expensive price, but since you can spend them freely and earn them freely, as long as you use them to upgrade your gear, there is no practical limit to your number of can earn.
Shadowflame Crests are available in four variants: Whelplings Shadowflame Crest, Drakes Shadowflame Crest, Wyrms Shadowflame Crest, and Aspects Shadowflame Crest. If you upgrade an item to an item level that matches the equipment that you get from Raid Finder, you’ll need to spend one Whelplings Shadowflame Crest for the upgrade. After you upgraded to an item level corresponds to Normal raid difficulty, you’ll spend one of the best Drake’s Shadowflame-City points per upgrade. The most treasured woods around there are Aspects – the most treasured woods. There are even a few swatches in gameplay, though these can be trunken by, in which a person’s ability to learn and maintain woods is buried.
Redundant Things are Redundantly Redundantly.
Upgrades cost Flightstones and Shadowflame Crests while upgrading the character power. If you upgrade something that’s lower than the highest level of items you’ve gotten in the slot, then you’ll get a discount. We don’t want to confuse you with the wrong items and encourage experimentation with several different trinkets and other equipment that have cool effects. Since you already have a few trinkets of item level (415), when you get a new trinket for ilvl 402, you can upgrade your new trinket by one more piece. Without spending all the Red-oilers or red-earth pillows, I can only spend any of those earmarked coins. . You will also only spend one little money. half the usual cost of Flightstone.
Winemaker Boros wants to build his own second hand mace. According to what he’s rated forty8, he has already a two-handed sword that his nanjas are forty-five. Upgrading his new mace from 408 to 415 costs half the usual Flightstones and won’t cost him any Shadowflame Crests. If he wants to update it to ilvl 418, it’s going to cost him a Drake’s Shadowflame, and the usual amount of Flightstones.
The redundancy discount doesn’t just apply to those who earn the upgrade. The 50% discount on Flightstone as a bonus when you go to upgrade an item. It will be much cheaper to upgrade that gear as you need.
Both ring and the man handgun, so you can take the second most cash if you get two slots. Weapons that can be found on hand and the other hand, such as shields, are tracked separately, and the lower of them will be used to your single-handed monetary discount. If you do a good two-handed weapon, your best will set the discount threshold for both hands no matter what style you use. Think of this so: these discounts will not help you to boost your main character in a way that increases your default value to equal your main character in order to increase the average value of your secondary value. But they will help you keep you up for a long time.
How many upgraded in real time?
Each item can only be upgraded if only now. Depending on how high the item level is at creation, every item will be on an upgrade track. Here’s a table for example to explain what that would look like.
Item level |
Shadowflame Crest has been upgraded to the previous level. |
Any items created at this level will always have to have an upgrade level. |
Items who are upgraded to the above level could be, though, also items that are upgraded to this level. |

That is really hard to digest, so let’s examine this a little more.
A particular item can be upgraded between 4 and 7 times. For example, if you buy a item at Adventurer’s next level, it’s likely to go as high as Adventurer 8/8, which is level 411. Are you looking for a way to get higher? You’ll need to buy an antique item which can be found in the Raid Finder example or at all levels. These upgrades are labeled on items, but if you haven’t been following the way these items are set up in previous seasons, you’ll recognize some things: Veteran items are found in the Raid Finder item level range. The top 5 items made of Normal raids (and any other gear that included in the yearly level range), etc. These upgrades and levels will be on the tooltip each piece of gear so you know how powerful your equipment can be. And, of course, Mythic gear is truly Mythic; once youre in that item level band you cant upgrade further.
Just like in previous upgrades, although you upgrade your old items several times at the same time, you still pay the same cost as when you upgrade one one at a time.
Another important note:
The level where an item is created determines which upgrade path and level of the level created with that item. For example, the same as when an item is created at ilvl 398, it’s always the Adventurer 4/8. If youre getting items at ilvl 431 or more (Hero 2/5), you’re never going to have any more items without more than four upgrades available.
Shadowflame and You are on the edge.
The ear of the ear and the ear of the ear are all items you’ll find in your reagent bag. They are very high, so it is very unlikely that there’s more than one sack of plastic bags owned by them. They pay weekly a small amount on the price they charge. This only makes the most of each kind of money per week. This means that at each level you can only get 10 upgrades per week.
This cap is deliberately set as high as most players would earn. This is because of the goal of this cap to keep a game level for the most competitive players clearing the hardest content and allowing majority of players to play as much as they like to whatever level of play they prefer and continue to earn meaningful rewards appropriate to that level.
The fag increases over time and allows you to re-engage freely if you don’t reach it within one week. As well as having five or sixteen mechanically relevant gear slots (depending on weapon style) by week 6, it would be so high that even if you would need a Crest for every upgrade, you’d be able to earn all the things you could utilize to upgrade. Since playing the game in ways that get you Crests help with the advancement of your gear, you’ll eventually come to the point where you could not even think about the price of the price as long as the rate increase is the level you’re capable of using in gearing.
They will have the reagent bag in. In addition to spending them the whole time, they’re producing reagents. ‘Enchanters’ used them to make Enchanted Shadowflame Crests (crafting orders are available) and ‘enchantments’ used to give the items level range of a piece of crafted gear, like Dragonflight Season Ones Primal Infusion and Concentrated Primal Infusion. In light of this increase in quality, your crafts will be very relevant. Once you are crafted, or instead of Flightstones or Shadowflame Crests, you’ll use the existing recrafting system to upgrade your gear.
The crafted gear will help you with all the upgrades. When determining your costs, the products that cost additional money will be spent using the crafted armor and weapons as the price of the upgrade.
Here’s what it appears to be in practice. I know the best way you get the best price for a car. Often a product is good choice, but if your gear isn’t worth the effort, you’ll go with that kind of brand name. For example: once you have all your gear at ilvl 415 or better, you won’t need any Whelplings Shadowflame Crests anymore and you can either buy them safely or not. Each tip from Crests will tell you what the item is used for — so you can tell who Crests are helpful anymore by holding your mouse over the item in your inventory.
Flightstones of the past 18 months have risen.
Flightstone costs are based on the new upgrade level and standard of the items. Upgrading an item with more stats (e.g. chest armor) cost more than a glove with less (e.g. cloak). Upgrading weapons costs usually more than upgrading armor. And upgrading an item becomes harder, as you climb the level of your item, and upgrading your gloves from ilvl 402 to ilvl 405 won’t cost you anything less than 100 Flightstones, but upgrading to ilvl 415 and 418 will cost you 120 Flightstones.
Flightstones are only available in short quantities or two from random treasures and spreads up to a hundred from the new weekly wrapper quest (example of Aiding the Accord quests from dragonflight launch content). Any raid boss will carry Flightstones for every player who defeats the encounter, and all mythic Keystone chests will have Flightstones for everyone. It will make Flightstones more expensive based on the cost of upgrading gear at that level, but those cost rises aren’t so much more expensive than outdoor content. We’re trying to make you decide what you want to do with play time and make sure that it is worth it (and keep the players who complete more demanding encounters) as long as you do.
Instead of averaging the exact number of pounds on your flightstone income and costs, then resulting in a long series of tables, let’s explain how many times you’ll need to do a thing to get an upgrade.
- A part of armor will need a skill lift at low.376-398: 8th to complete the World Quest. Weapons are expensive, but your weekly capstone quests (like Aiding the Accord quests found in the 10.0.2 content update) will help you with sufficient Flightstones and upgrades to your weapons several times.
- At standard level (402-424), a piece of armor can be upgraded with 3-5 Mythic Keystone dungeons depending on the key level and the armor slot.
- During the higher levels (428-441), the army can make up to ten normal dungeons to upgrade an armor piece.
- At all levels, three raid bosses (or two if they are end bosses) will be the first to get you enough Flightstones to upgrade from that level.
Frequently asked questions are being answered.
Q: What do I do if I buy something in a raid and trade it? Will I roll the need on weapons I cant use now just to make upgrades cheaper?
A: When determining redundancy, only Soulbound gear that your character can use counts. There is no benefit to giving warglaive bows or a warglaive priest. Of course if you can trade it, it isn’t counted.
Q: Is Mythic+ Score gone?
A: “No.” At a discount shop, your Mythic+ score was used to qualify your character for higher level upgrades and a series of achievements (Keystone Explorer/Keystone Conqueror/Keystone Master/Keystone Hero). The score of Mythic+ isn’t used to qualify for the upgrade level, but it is still going to be tracked for those achievements. And after key, in case anyone in the group fails to score, you’ll get flightsstones just like bonus Valor.
Q: Are Valor and I going?
A: Yes. This system is an expansionable upgrade plan for the full scale. With the ancient system of Valor, your raid nights weren’t helping you get rid of your gear. And the raid gear couldn’t be upgraded at all! You’ll not save cash for potential gear upgrades by splitting your time between raids and running keys.
Q: Why is this system free of PVP gear?
A: The feedback we received from people around the world about the prototype of Dragonflight season One was very positive. Since its working, there isn’t much reason to change it. If this system stays around in the future, it may become the new way of resetting your PvP gears PvE, but see in the future. Your feedback here is important.
Q: Where can I go to upgrade my gear by this new system?
A: Any upgrade vendor may help you. The item upgrade vendor near Loamm is happy to help you (and even walk you through this system!) but if you go out of Valdrakken then it’ll be easier to get it done there. Or Oribos. Or the Nazjatar for you. (If you’ve been back in a while, Nazjatar is very nice this time of year. It may be great for visiting an old Ankoan and your friends.
Q: I’m a Fury warrior, and I was looking at the upgrade section. I don’t find the part that makes me sad to use two weapons of two hands.
A: Because of the way redundancy is made by two-handed weapons, Fury warriors get a unique advantage: upgrading a single two-handed weapon costs half the usual money compared to the other arm and cost the more of Flightstones and Crests. We forgot to add a piece that would make you sad. Please forgive us.
Q: What is the cover of Storm Primal and 10,7s e.g. onyx?
A: This new upgrade system is specifically designed for Dragonflight Season Two content. It is not possible that the Primal Storm gear and The Onyx Annulet are a part of the Dragonflight season one. You will still be able to upgrade them in the second episode the same way as you do with Storm and Primordial Gems.
Q: What if players don’t like the system? Can we eliminate that after Dragonflight Season two starts?
A: Maybe. Several things will depend on how players interact and react to the system. So, if you don’t like the stuff and have constructive feedback on why it’s good feedback to get, please do so.
Q: What if players like the system? Can we keep it past the Second Season?
A: You’re wrong. Many of this will depend on the way players interact and react to the system. Tell us why and what you want to say, if you like that. This is good feedback.
We are eager to hear your feedback as always. The systems are still being built, but no tenths of Crests and Flightstones are available during early PTR testing. Change often happens when the system becomes fully implemented and as we respond to your feedback. Take care of the new system on the PTR, and tell us what your thoughts are!
