Patch 10.1 - Embers of Neltharion

Patch 10.1 – Embers of Neltharion:

Yesterday, Blizzard released news that Patch 10.1 – Embers of Neltharion will hit the PTR later this week. They also added a preview of some exciting content to look forward to, including a new zone, Raid, and much more.

Continue reading to see what’s coming in Patch 10.1 – Embers of Neltharion.

New Zone – Zaralek Caverns:

Zaralek Caverns is the new zone, located beneath the Dragon Isles. Blizzard has hinted that the Zaralak Caverns is slightly larger than the zone: Zereth Mortis from World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

Players can reach Zaralek Caverns via one of three tunnels within Thaldraszus, Azure Span, and Ohn’ahran Plains. As there’s no loading screen when entering, it will be interesting to see how good this will be with Dragonriding.

As Dragonriding will continue to be a significant aspect within Zaralek Caverns and with the zone underground, there must surely be some challenging and breathtaking opportunities as we soar throughout the zone.

We’ll also get our first look at the new race, the Niffen. The Niffen are moles and will be friendly. However, the familiar Djaradin Elders will have a presence and are unfriendly.

Dragonriding (continued):

There will be eight new Dragonriding Glyphs to find within Zaralek Caverns. These Glyphs will help unlock two new Dragonriding Traits, Ground Skimming and Land’s Blessing.

We will also obtain a new Dragonriding mount: Winding Slitherdrake.

New Raid – Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible:

The new Raid will release simultaneously for Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty, but no information on when Looking for Raid will release. The Raid will consist of 9 Bosses.

The PTR will clarify more information in the next few weeks/months.

Mythic+ Dungeons:

The remaining four Dragonflight dungeons Brackenhide Hollow, Halls of Infusion, Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, and Neltharus, will have Mythic+ difficulty.

Blizzard will also introduce four dungeons from the previous expansions; Freehold, The Underrot, Vortex Pinnacle, and Neltharion’s Lair to the Mythic+ rotation.

Item Upgrades:

Patch 10.1 will see Heirloom armor scale up to level 70; this is good news for players that continue to level alts. Furthermore, Blizzard has hinted at an upgrade revamp, maybe considering making future upgrades less complex.

Early in the PTR, you will also come across a new currency, Shadowflame Crests. Blizzard intends to get this on the PTR early to get plenty of testing and feedback.

Cross-Faction Guilds:

Essentially one of the most talked about features coming to World of Warcraft is the introduction of Cross-Faction Guilds. Ever since I played, I’ve enjoyed the ongoing battle between Alliance and Horde; somehow, this feature will lose some animosity between the two factions.

I can see how this will benefit many Guilds, especially in realms that consist of unbalanced populations/factions. It was inevitable that this feature would come, and it’ll be interesting to see how Cross-Faction Guilds fair on the PTR.

Professions:

There will be a new Optional Reagent: Titan Training Matrix V. It’s too soon to understand the upgrade this will offer an item. The Crimson Combatant recipes from last season are available for purchase for three Marks of Honor each.

There’s still no hint of the option to reset points in your Profession Specialization; this is likely something possible at a later patch.

Lastly, many new recipes are coming to each Profession; check out the Patch 10.1 patch notes, released tonight (09.03.2023).

Conclusion:

I only touched on a few points outlined in Patch 10.1, but if you’d prefer to get all the information, including World Quest content, Class Changes, and PvP changes, check out both these articles below.
