For most Mythic geared players, Primordial Stones tend to be a throughput loss. Each spec differs, but on average a regular item level 405 (or above) ring with secondary stats can currently offer similar throughput benefits as the Primordial Stones system with some outliers which can be seen below. We’ve provided an approximate ring ilvl equivalent where you’d replace your Onyx Annulet and Primordial Stones for convenience.

In an interview with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, the relative strength of Primordial is supposed to be as follows:

• The Annulet and Primordial Stones, once fully upgraded, should be relevant and should be an upgrade for basically everyone. That’s part of why it spans multiple item levels and has multiple effects. it should be something that’s worth chasing for everyone.
• The High-end players should be replacing in Season 2. if it feels like you should use this over Mythic Aberrus Rings, that’s something they’re going to want to remedy.
