A human-resources executive, Jesse Meschuk, also left the company this week, according to an Activision Blizzard spokesperson. Meschuk was the senior people officer at Blizzard and the unit’s top HR representative.
Blizzard’s HR department has been under intense scrutiny since the lawsuit came to light, with many allegations depicting an environment where the HR system failed employees with quotes like ” discouraged from complaining as human resource personnel were known to be close to alleged harassers.” After Fran Townsend’s disastrous statement calling the lawsuit “factually incorrect,” even more current and former employees came forward to describe how Blizzard’s systems failed them.
Earlier today, Axios released an in-depth look at how Blizzard’s HR department failed their employees. In this report, several employees came forward to share their stories, describing an HR system that protected the company over its employees. The report also details high turnover rates in Blizzard’s HR department, as well as confusing processes and a lack of transparency.
In the following quote from the Axios report, the flaws in Blizzard’s HR process are on clear display:
- “One of the things commented on was that she was surprised I wasn’t crying or I wasn’t more hysterical.”
- Furthermore, the source says, there were no measures put in place to protect her at work. Instead, Blizzard encouraged her to work from home or switch departments, a move she says felt more like punishment.
- When she spoke to HR again, however, a representative told her, “He’s really sorry and he really wants to work at Blizzard. And he says that you were really friendly with him.”
This news follows the announcement that Blizzard President J. Allen Brack has stepped down, replaced by Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra as co-leaders of Blizzard.
