Today’s article will be covering BoE Mounts to Farm in 2024. With Dragonflight (slowly but surely) transitioning towards The War Within this year, players will be looking at activities to occupy themselves during lull periods of the game. Using data from Wowhead and the Undermine Exchange (previously known as Oribos Exchange), I have ordered the mounts by their difficulty and added their Median Value.
Disclaimer:
These mounts have extremely low drop rates, hence their value. Be prepared to invest a lot of time farming them. These mounts can sell for 150k each or as high as 400k! Although the immediate action is to farm the highest valued mount, consider mixing it up to prevent saturating the market; this will ultimately reduce its value.
Alternatively, those like myself can purchase these mounts from the Auction House. Please use the Undermine Exchange for pricing data. I have added the Median Value with all the mounts below; expect these values to change regularly. Remember, we can trade across realms, so look for bargains on high-populated realms to sell on medium-low-populated realms!
I have not added BoE mounts from the Trading Card Game (TCG), and due to the insufficient demand and value, I’ve not included the Reins of Poseidus and Garn Nighthowl.
Where applicable, I have done my utmost to credit all those responsible for the information I’ve gathered in this article. If I still need to credit you, please get in touch, and I’d be happy to make any adjustments necessary.
Group Farming:
While it’s possible to farm these mounts on your own, there are benefits to grouping up with others. Use the Premade Group Tool (in-game) to look for other players farming or to form your group. If you’re max-level, there’s no need to look for healers. However, there’s value in looking for specific classes: Hunters, Druids, Mages (for Ranged/AoE/instant casts), and Brewfest Monks (for the Ox Statue).
Group farming also helps in hyper-spawning mobs. By carefully positioning your team, you can kill all the mobs in the area, forcing the game to respawn the mobs. This method means you can record more kills per hour, increasing the chances of obtaining your mount quicker.
Chewed-On Reins of the Terrified Pack Mule:
The Terrified Pack Mule is a ground mount farmed from the Hexthralled Guardsman in Corlain (near Waycrest Manor) within Drustvar. These mobs appear to respawn quickly, so there’s merit in grouping up with others to kill and spawn the mobs as quickly as possible. Coordiantes [32.20] and [29.27]. (Source: carsten711)
It’s also worth considering the Hexthralled Soldiers near Arom’s Strand, Drustvar coordinates [40.37]. As this is an Alliance zone, consider opting out of War Mode to prevent players from the opposite Faction from griefing you.

Goldenmane’s Reins:
Goldenmane is a rare ground mount obtainable from mobs within Kul Tiras. The mount predominantly has a greater chance of dropping at The Brineworks within Stormsong Valley at the coordinates [69.50]. (Source: missingno12824)
As this is an Alliance zone, consider opting out of War Mode to prevent players from the opposite Faction from griefing you.

Captured Dune Scavenger:
The Dune Scavenger is a ground mount you can obtain by predominantly farming mobs within Vol’dun, Zandalar. The best area is near The Terrace of the Devoted at the coordinates [34.63]. I recommend grouping up again to assist in hyper-spawning the mobs.
It’s also worth checking out the Bone Pit coordinates [50.44] near Vulpera Hideaway. (Source: Oversal)
As this is a Horde territory, consider opting out of War Mode to prevent players from the opposite Faction from griefing you.

Reins of a Tamed Bloodfeaster:
You can obtain the Tamed Bloodfeaster (Leaping Veinseeker) by defeating mobs within Nazmir, Zandalar. There are plenty of Loa-Gutter mobs in and around Torga’s Rest. This mount is a zone drop and can drop from Blood Witches, too; check out the mobs along the left-hand side of the Heart of Darkness. You may experience phasing issues due to a quest chain in the area.
Remember that this area is a Horde territory; consider opting out of War Mode to prevent players from the opposite Faction from griefing you.

Reins of the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent:
The Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent is a flying mount rewarded for killing Alani within the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Pandaria. To interact with Alani, you must collect 10 Skyshards and use them to create a Sky Crystal. Although the mount is a 100% drop, the drop rate of the Skyshards is roughly 1.8%.
The Skyshards are account-bound so that you can trade them with characters on your account. These are also unique, meaning you can only have ten within your inventory. Looting once you’ve exceeded this limit will prevent you from looting more.
Check out this excellent comment from [cristiansm], who highlights the Skyshards dropping from the Ancient Guo-Lai Cache by defeating Mogus, which drop the Ancient Guo-Lai Cache Key. Laraven also points out that they can be found in Treasures of the Vale and Small Bag of Goods.
Boeuf reminds us that in BFA, Blizzard introduced Black Empire Assaults (Lesser Visions) within the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Uldum. The assaults are on a rotation, meaning when the assault is within the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, you can kill mobs and earn Skyshards. To change phases, talk to Zidormi!

Minion of Grumpus:
The Minion of Grumpus is a ground mount you can only farm for during the Holiday Event: Feast of Winter Veil. By having a level 3 Garrison (WoD), you can pick up daily quests, which, when completed, reward you with Merry Supplies. You can use them to purchase Savage Gifts from Izzy Hollyfizzle.
You have roughly a 3% chance to loot a Minion of Grumpus from a Savage Gift. The difficulty of acquiring this mount and the length of the event dictates its incredibly high value.
If you don’t have a level 3 Garrison and are level 40 and above, consider farming/purchasing Huge Ogre Cache to power-level your Garrison! You can buy them for as little as 1-2.5k gold, but during the Timewalking Event: Warlords of Draenor and the Holiday Event: Feast of Winter Veil (when demand is high), expect these to climb upwards of 5-8.5k gold each!

Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger:
The Crimson Deathcharger is a ground mount obtained via the Unsealed Chest. To acquire the Unsealed Chest, you must defeat the Lich king with the legendary weapon, Shadowmourne. You will only receive this once per character.
However, Shadowmourne is only available to Deathknights, Paladins, and Warriors. Although the mount is a 100% drop, the quest chain that leads you to get Shadowmourne is long and tiresome. It will take approximately 7-9 weeks (depending on RNG) to complete! Remember, if you’re doing this solo, you could experience difficulties completing the quest: Blood Infusion.
You will also get the following BoE items, making the ordeal worthwhile, considering the potential value is upwards of 500k.

U.S Median Value: 412k

Swift Lovebird:
The Swift Lovebird is only available to farm during the Holiday Event: Love is in the Air. You will be required to collect Lovely Charms, which, when used, creates a Lovely Charm Bracelet. Find a Lovely Merchant within a Capital City and trade a Lovely Charm Bracelet for a Love Token.
You will need 270 Love Tokens to purchase a Swift Lovebird. To put that into perspective, you must acquire 270 Lovely Charm Bracelets, meaning you must farm 2700 Lovely Charms! If you don’t wish to farm the bracelets, you can buy them from the Auction House. They will cost approximately 3k gold each!
Farming locations for Lovely Charms change yearly due to Blizzard’s nerfs to drop rates and depending on the current content during the release of the Holiday Event. Always consider farming mobs at your level that are densely packed with a reasonable drop rate.

Swift Springstrider:
The Swift Springstrider is a ground mount obtained during the Holiday Event: Noblegarden. By completing tasks and collecting Brightly Colored Eggs, you can acquire Noblegarden Chocolate. You will need 500 Noblegarden Chocolate to buy a Swift Springstrider.
Due to the ease of farming Noblegarden Chocolate, you’ll notice a lot of Swift Springstriders on the Auction House; this is why the mount struggles to hold its value throughout the year. It’s easy to acquire; many players already own one, and its poor value means it’s bottom of the list for me!

Conclusion:
Farming mounts can be very tedious and time-consuming. However, some World of Warcraft players enjoy dedicating their time to farming them with the lure of significant amounts of gold. When posting your mounts, consider posting one at a time; this ensures you don’t saturate the market, thus losing value on your mount(s) in the long run.
I prefer to invest my gold into these items instead and look to profit from them at a later date, otherwise known as flipping. We can use the differing supply and demand by purchasing BoE mounts on high-populated realms and transferring them to medium-low-populated realms.
For example, I could purchase a Reins of a Tamed Bloodfeaster on Tarren Mill E.U for 79k and trade it to my alt on Stormreaver E.U where the current value is 149k. It’s worth mentioning that you’ll need multiple accounts to do this or have a friend you can trust to trade with.
There has never been a better time to get involved, thanks to Blizzard’s changes in cross-realm trading. I use this method when flipping Transmog, Recipes, and Battle Pets (Companion Pets).
