The Darkmoon Faire is a World Event that begins on the first Sunday each month and lasts exactly one week. To see when the event is next available, open the calendar in-game! The event has many activities and rewards available to you; there’s something for everyone! To start your adventure, speak to a Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage within your Faction’s city.
Introduction:
Completing activities will reward you with a currency: Darkmoon Prize Tickets, which you can spend purchasing rewards from many of the vendors on Darkmoon Island. These rewards can be profitable and earn you a lot of gold at the Auction House; I’ll add some markets below, which I deal in, which may interest you, too!
I have corralated everything into this one article. I understand there’s a lot of information, so for ease of use, use the table of contents above to move to the section you require assistance with.

Getting to the Darkmoon Faire:
To start your journey within the Darkmoon Faire, find a nearby Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage within any major city. If this is your first time, they will have a quest available to you.
Once accepted, ask to be teleported to the Darkmoon Faire. Find Gelvas Grimegate (use the map above for his location) and complete your quest. You will receive experience/gold and reputation. You’ll also receive your Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide, which is required to loot Darkmoon Artifacts (more on this later).
If you lose your Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide, you can get a replacement from Gelvas Grimegate.
The Whee! Buff:
Before completing any activity within the Darkmoon Faire, use a Darkmoon Ride Ticket and ride either the carousel or the rollercoaster to receive an hour-long buff: Whee! This buff gives you a 10% increase in experience and reputation gains.
This buff works outside the Darkmoon Faire but is limited to only one hour. So, you must revisit the faire and take another ride to refresh the buff.
You can get a similar buff from consuming a Darkmoon Top Hat. However, it is only achievable while the Darkmoon Faire is in progress, and the buff will continue to expire if you’ve logged out! This option is only beneficial if you don’t want to revisit the Darkmoon Faire.
Although the buffs are similar, they cannot be stacked!
Darkmoon Artifacts:
One of the easiest methods to obtain Darkmoon Prize Tickets is to collect and hand in Darkmoon Artifacts. Nine artifacts are available and looted from mobs and players within PvE/PvP content. You will need to have a Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide within your inventory.
Alternatively, you can purchase artifacts from the Auction House. Be aware that the Darkmoon Artifacts will increase substantially in value when the event is ongoing. I recommend purchasing these when the Darkmoon Faire is out of town and storing them in your bank.
Depending on your character’s level (due to scaling with experience), you can earn substantial experience/gold and reputation.

Darkmoon Profession Quests:
There are fifteen Profession Quests available, limited to the profession(s) you have learned. Once you’ve completed a quest for your profession, you must wait until the following month to redo it, as the quest(s) have a monthly reset!
Unlike the older version of the Darkmoon Faire, you no longer need to have a minimum required level in a given profession to participate. As long as you’ve learned a profession, you can complete the quest associated with that profession.
Completing the quest will add two skill points to your profession, depending on the highest expansion learned. For example, If you have Dragonflight Blacksmithing, you will earn two skill points until you reach maximum skill.
When you reach the maximum skill level for a specific expansion profession, you will gain skill points towards the previous expansion starting from the most recent expansion, i.e. Shadowlands, BFA, and so on…
Be aware if you complete the Fishing Quest: Spoilin’ for Salty Sea Dogs, you have a tiny chance to earn a Draconic Recipe in a Bottle, which, once used, will reward you with a random Dragonflight recipe.
Material Requirements per Profession Quest:
Six Profession Quests require you to bring materials/items to complete. Here’s a list outlining the six quests and the materials. Make sure you have these before visiting the Darkmoon Faire!
You must also collect 15 Fossil Archaeology Fragments to complete the Archaeology quest outlined below. If you’re level 70, you can visit an Archaeology vendor to trade Restored Artifacts for a Crate of Fossil Archaeology Fragments.

Darkmoon Profession Quest Exploit:
There is a known exploit, similar to the profession exploit in Dragonflight. Where you learn a profession, complete the associated quest(s), delete the profession, and learn a different one until you’ve completed the quests for all the professions.
While this is time-consuming, there is a lot of value from the extra Darkmoon Prize Tickets, experience, and gold. It is only worthwhile if you’re on a new character and have no profession progress, as you’ll lose all your progress when you delete a profession.
Silas’ Secret Stash:
Silas’ Secret Stash is a one-time quest each character can complete once. Completing the quest rewards you with 100 Darkmoon Prize Tickets. You will need 100 Darkmoon Daggermaw to purchase the quest: Silas’ Secret Stash from Galissa Sundew.
For those unaware, the quest urges you to roam around Darkmoon Island, searching for four clues, with the final clue informing you of the location of the stash. To see if you have completed this quest on your character, input this easy-to-use script within the in-game chat box.

Dracthyr Exploit:
You can exploit the limitations of activities within the Darkmoon Faire by creating/deleting Dracthyr characters. Create a Dracthyr, complete the starting zone, go to your capital city, and teleport to the Darkmoon Faire. Complete all the Darkmoon Faire activities (including Silas’ Secret Stash), transfer all the rewards to an alt, delete the character, and start again!
Dracthyr Limitations & Restrictions:
You must be aware of the limitations associated with Dracthyr’s. While the first Drakthyr (on any account) is free of the level 50 requirement on your chosen realm, if you delete that Dracthyr, you will need to meet that requirement in the future.
You can only have one Dracthyr per realm at any one time. At the time of this post, there is no limitation to how many Dracthyr’s you can create and delete, comparable to the rules associated with creating/deleting Class Trials.

Darkmoon Deathmatch:
Like the Deathmatch in Stranglethorn Vale, the Darkmoon Deathmatch will start every 3 hours from midnight while the Darkmoon Faire is in town. Before the Deathmatch begins, an alert will be seen within the chat informing everyone the Deathmatch is about to start.
The Deathmatch is straightforward: enter the arena, defeat any foes, and be the first to open the chest. Be aware this is a PvP arena, and other players will be looking to loot that chest, too! Successfully looting the chest will reward you with a Trinket: Pit Fighter via the quest: Pit Fighter.
Completing the Deathmatch 12 times will reward you with a trinket: Master Pit Fighter. Completing the Deathmatch once more will reward you with a Heirloom trinket: Returning Champion.
If you have multiple accounts, you can invite yourself to a party on a different realm/phase and complete the Deathmatch multiple times within each 3-hourly reset. If you’ve invited a player not in the same phase (you cannot see them), be aware that Chromie Time or having War Mode activated can lead to phasing issues.
Darkmoon Mini-Games:
Scattered along the main corridor of Darkmoon Island are stalls with mini-games to test your skills. Some are considered straightforward and fun; others are tricky and time-consuming. To participate, you will need a Darkmoon Game Token.
Completing a mini-game will reward you with a Darkmoon Game Prize, which includes one Darkmoon Prize Ticket. These mini-games are dailies, which means you can return the next day and complete them again!
Darkmoon Pet Battles:
Two Pet Battles are available to you, Christoph VonFeasel and Jeremy Feasel. Unlike previous versions of the Darkmoon Faire, these Pet Battles have an account-wide daily. This means that once you’ve done it once on any character on your account, you must wait until the daily reset to redo it!
Each Pet Battle rewards you with a satchel that contains Pet Battle goodies and a slight chance of two Battle Pets, Darkmoon Eye and Syd the Squid. Watch the videos below for a helpful tutorial on defeating these Pet Battles.

Darkmoon Rares:
There are two Darkmoon Rares on Darkmoon Island, the Darkmoon Rabbit and Moonfang. Killing these rares has a slight chance to reward you with a Battle Pet (Darkmoon Rabbit and Moon Moon). These pets are profitable in the Auction House.
Moonfang also drops two toys, Moonfang’s Paw and Moonfang Shroud that you can sell at the Auction House.
Darkmoon Daggermaw:
Darkmoon Daggermaw is a fish caught in the waters surrounding Darkmoon Island. The fish is a currency to purchase Recipes, Companion Pets, and a Mount from Galissa Sundew.
The Darkmoon Daggermaw can be purchased and sold at the Auction House. While the fish (in the past) used to be very profitable, the margins have since been less appealing due to the Region-Wide Auction House. However, some notable shuffles can lead to profit.
Replica Transmog:
I believe the most profitable market to get involved in is the Replica Transmog market. These pieces of cosmetic armor cost 55 or 75 Darkmoon Prize Tickets each and are available from Baruma. They can be bought and sold at the Auction House. Be aware there are level requirements for purchasing Replica cosmetic pieces, so don’t attempt to complete this on a new level 1 or 10 character!
I sell these pieces for between 35-75k gold each, occasionally as high as 100k! For those unaware, the Transmog market is slow; it can take considerable time to complete a sale – but the wait is worthwhile!

Companion Pets:
Eight Companion Pets that can be caged are available with either Darkmoon Prize Tickets or Darkmoon Daggermaw, each valued between 5-20k gold (depending on level). These Companion Pets are the next best market to get involved in regarding the Darkmoon Faire.
Two Companion Pets are Bind on Equip, meaning you can add them straight to the Auction House. Three additional uncommon Companion Pets are available but don’t hold much value. Check out the complete collection below!

With the ability to learn Companion Pets and cage them into Battle Pets, you can post these on alternative realms with the most significant profit margin. Check out the Oribos Exchange to determine which realms are profitable.
Darkmoon Firewater:
Darkmoon Firewater is a flask that, once consumed, will give the user a 1-hour buff, which speeds up the process of gathering with Skinning, Mining, and Herbalism. These flasks are valuable during the release of new content, especially where you can’t fly and must gather quickly before aggroing nearby mobs.
You can fish Darkmoon Firewater around the shore of Darkmoon Island. Alternatively, you can purchase one Darkmoon Firewater for 25 Darkmoon Daggermaw or buy and sell them at the Auction House.
Darkmoon Hammer:
The Darkmoon Hammer is a Bind on Equip cosmetic weapon that costs 75 Darkmoon Prize Tickets from Gelvas Grimegate. When this became a cosmetic item, there was a lot of demand for it at the Auction House. Sadly, the market has become saturated, thus losing much of its value.
According to the Oribos Exchange, the average value is about 15k gold, but this value is massively inflated thanks to the price of Hammers in low-populated realms.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous blog post, I’d prefer to invest my Darkmoon Prize Tickets in an alternative market, like Replica Transmog. Ultimately, the decision is yours and where you feel you’ll get the best bang for your buck.
Test Your Strength:
Don’t forget to pick up the monthly quest: Test Your Strength. The requirements need you to collect 250 Grisly Trophies. You can collect these if you kill something that rewards experience or honor. You can work towards this quest when the Darkmoon Faire isn’t active.
Make sure you have your Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide within your inventory!
Upon completion, you will receive 10 Darkmoon Prize Tickets.
Conclusion:
I’ve often expressed that much of my gold comes from selling Replica Transmog and Companion Pets associated with the Darkmoon Faire. While these markets are deemed slow, they can be very rewarding if you’re patient.
With Cross-Realm Trading and Cross-Faction Trading, it’s never been a better time to get involved. With the assistance of the Oribos Exchange, we can filter out realms that don’t have Replica Transmog/Companion Pets and move them to these realms. Doing so increases our chances of a sale.
Any realm can return sales; however, going to medium/low populated realms, you can increase your sale rate with little to no competition. If you can, consider cancel-scanning to prevent your competition from undercutting you and getting that sale. I don’t have the time, but doing it has considerable value!
Lastly, I first wrote this guide back in 2015, and there have been a lot of changes as the game has evolved, thankfully for the better. I will promptly update this post when and if there are considerable changes.
