What could the Season 3 Mythic+ dungeon rotation look like? We speculate on what the dungeon rotation could be.

Season 3 Mythic+ Dungeon Speculation

A big part of the Season 2 dungeon rotation was related to themes of the patch combined with some fan favorite dungeons. We had the addition of Neltharion’s Lair in a patch all about Neltharion. Underrot, a dungeon all about purging corruption, before it spreads. Freehold and Vortex Pinnacle were some fan favorite dungeons, although many people wouldn’t have guessed Vortex Pinnacle since it was a Cataclysm dungeon.

We may be able to speculate some of the dungeons based on the relation to the patch and how much players would want to see them again. Of course, this is all speculation and we’ll have to wait to see what the dungeons are when Blizzard announces them.

We know that the Dawn of Infinites Megadungeon will be split into two for Season 3, so that leaves 6 spots for other dungeons! Let us know what your thoughts would be, and I’m listing my thoughts below.

Mists of Pandaria

Scarlet Halls and Scarlet Monastery

These two dungeons were highly regarded back in MoP when they were reworked. With an environment reworkm a possible return to Old Scarlet Monastery hinted at in Patch 10.1.7 and it’s likely connection to the Undead Heritage Armor storyline, these seem like they’d be a prime pick for a Mists of Pandaria dungeon.

These dungeons would need some work to get them up to Dragonflight standards, but they’ve done it with Vortex Pinnacle and Temple of the Jade Serpent, so I think this would be possible.

Scholomance

Another fan favorite reworked dungeon. Doesn’t make as much sense lore-wise currently but post-rework had some interesting bosses that would likely scale well into Mythic+ dungeons. Throw in some nostalgia for those who have played since the original Scholomance and this could be a good pick.

Just don’t forget about needing to get a Jandice Barov weakaura to identify the real Jandice Barov from the clones, similar to the Morchie mechanic.

Mogu’shan Palace and Stormstout Brewery

More fan favorite dungeons from MoP, with most people likely giving high regards to these dungeons. However, these dungeons seem to be relatively linear and I’m not personally sure how well they would scale into Mythic+ dungeons. Nothing particularly wrong with linear dungeons, or bosses that need a lot of work but Blizzard probably only wants so many of them in a Mythic+ season.

The last boss of Mogu’shan Palace with all the traps would be quite fun though!

Warlords of Draenor

Everbloom

In a patch that is speculated to be heavily themed around the Emerald Dream, it makes sense that a similar theme of the woodlands of the Everbloom would be a good lore pick. It’s highly regarded by some of the community, while others probably don’t enjoy the dungeon as much. This dungeon had some wild skips back in the day, but those skips have been fixed once the dungeon came to Timewalking. There are a good mix of boss encounters in here from a three target cleave encounter, to heavy movement encounters, and coordination bosses (looking at you Archmage Sol) and even a boss with a damage taken phase! Trash is plentiful and many routes can be planned and no pixel perfect glider skips anymore (that we know of).

This would be a prime pick for Season 3 I think.

Skyreach

Another fan favorite dungeon, though there are some people who are worried about this dungeon returning due to it being quite hard. Skyreach doesn’t have as many lore tie-ins that Everbloom seems to have, but fan-favorite dungeons always seem to have a chance to be brought back.

This dungeon has good aesthetics, and great boss design, so it probably would be a good Mythic+ dungeon pick.

Legion

Darkheart Thicket

In a patch that is speculated to be heavily themed around the Emerald Dream, this is likely the very first dungeon people will think of — corruption of Val’sharah and the corruption of Darkheart Thicket and Druids. While there were some issues with this dungeon in the past such as healing the 3rd boss or the EHP checks of the last boss, these could easily be fixed when brought back and with the current state of healing. Most people enjoyed this dungeon and its aesthetics back in Legion.

This dungeon was brought back during Legion Mythic+ Timewalking, but Legion Mythic Timewalking is not returning and that may because they will likely to use some of these dungeons in future Mythic+ pools.

Seat of the Triumvirate

As much as people will likely cringe seeing Seat of the Triumvirate, it has a very strong tie-in to the Void theme that seems to be hinted at, especially at the end of the Patch 10.1.5 Megadungeon cinematic. In addition, it’s probably one of the least played Mythic+ dungeons, showing up at the end of Legion, and it being so overtuned that most people just heavily avoided the dungeon.

For a low played dungeon that could be refreshed to not be overtuned, this would probably feel like a relatively new experience for many players and personally, I don’t think the dungeon is that bad (just make sure to bring Inky Black Potions).

Eye of Azshara

The Eye of the Azshara is probably one of the dungeon that players look at when they look at route variation. There was so much trash in the dungeon and so much of it was easy to avoid, pull or combine. The last boss was a pain in Legion, but with the current state of healing and some reworks that come in when bringing a dungeon back, this could be another great addition to Season 3.

Who wants a massive crab pull back, or a hunter to barrage and accidently pull a seagull?

Battle for Azeroth

Atal’Dazar and Waycrest Manor

Two of the fan-favorites from Battle for Azeroth. While both had their issues (double Reanimated Honor Guard pack in Atal’Dazar / random doors), these dungeons were highly regarded (possibly due to the lack of “good” dungeons in BFA) and were a ton of fun to play. I think most players would be excited to see them return.

Temple of Sethraliss

I think some people wouldn’t like seeing the return of this dungeon, but they’d probably prefer this over some of the other BFA dungeons like Tol Dagor, Siege of Boralus or Shrine of the Storm. This dungeon would need to have some changes, likely to the total count required and the final boss, but I think it would be a solid choice.

Cataclysm

We saw our first Cataclysm dungeon in Season 2 and with Catalysm having many Dragon dungeons, it’s possible we see the return of another Cataclysm dungeon. However, it’s likely that these dungeons take a longer time to revamp due to being so old and only some would be good Mythic+ dungeons.

My picks for Cataclysm would be:

  • Stonecore
  • Blackrock Caverns
  • Shadowfang Keep
  • Grim Batol (reworked Dragon bombing run)
