WARNING: Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion spoilers ahead!

Previously in Chapter 3, we explore the home of the Zaqali Djaradin to find out they have an ancient bargain with the Incarnates: They will revive their elders for a currently unknown price. Fyrakk is discovered, but too late: He has bathed in the same shadowflame that eventually corrupted Neltharion, and was unleashed upon the Dragon Isles.

Chapter 4 starts after the Black Dragonflight leaders deliver the details of Fyrakk’s reemergence to the Aspects. Ebyssian asks us to return to Zaralek Cavern to contact Black Dragonflight agents in Obsidian Rest, a forward point close to the entrance to Aberrus. While we move to Zaralek Cavern, Wrathion shows concern to Sabellian and his shadowflame wound, but Sabellian continues to say he’s fine.

We then assess the situation with the Black Dragonflight drakonid forces stationed in Obsidian’s Rest – The Zaqali Djaradin are becoming increasingly aggressive in a bid to expand their territory, making an aerial approach difficult due to their farsight magic. They plan on freeing Rashok, one of their Elders, who is kept imprisoned in Aberrus, and allowing that to happen would make control of their area all but impossible.

We then meet with Field Command Ignax, the leader of Obsidian’s Rest, who reports that the conflict between his forces and the Djaradin has spanned what seems to be an eternity. We join the battle with them, destroying ballistae, recovering invasion plans and killing important leaders. During this, we discover the Djaradin have caught wind of a new species of serpent dragons, and plan on killing them all.

The presence of the Black Dragonflight dragons give the Obsidian Rest drakonid confidence, and we hop on Ebyssian’s back to regain control of the “skies” of Zaralek Cavern. While dispatching of the djaradin, a dragon nest with these new serpent dragons is spotted, and Ebyssian flies us there. The nest is found, but any Djaradin in the area are dead. Are we too late?

As we inspect the area, we learn that the Djaradin there were killed by Drakonid weapons, and these Drakonid carry Neltharion banners, and eventually learn this is a separated Drakonid force who wants to bring the serpent drakes back to Aberrus – They were part of Neltharion’s experiments. As we free the serpent dragons and kill the dissent drakonid forces, one of them accepts becoming a dragonriding mount for us! This finishes Chapter 4 and awards us the Winding Slitherdrake mount!
