Players who have killed Fyrakk already in the Amirdrassil raid can unlock the final chapter of the Emerald Dream’s storyline – New Beginnings.

Thank you to Lyna for running the best pug I’ve ever been in, allowing me to get the Fyrakk kill and this quest line!

Note: We suspect this quest wasn’t meant to become available this week, due to hints towards the end that it was only supposed to release after the completion of the Tyr questline. Keep that in mind before reading further!

WARNING: Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream spoilers ahead!

After achieving a Fyrakk kill and completing Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope: Fyrakk, the quest A Blossom Witnessed is offered by Tyrande Whisperwind outside of Amirdrassil.

To recap the story of the raid, after defeating Fyrakk, Alexstrasza, Nozdormu, Kalecgos, Merithra, Ebyssian, and Vyranoth are reempowered as Dragon Aspects, not by the Titans, but by Azeroth herself. Now, Tyrande tells us that Amirdrassil has blossomed beyond the confines of the Dream, and has taken root on our world.

We head to the Ancient Bough in Ohn’ahran Plains, where we find all the Aspects facing a new zone that’s unlocked in the Dragon Isles – Amirdrassil.

Merithra wants us to check on our allies who live around the Isles, to check that they are well after the change in the land.

We speak with the centaur,

Khanam Matra Sarest says: Ohn’ahra led us here, It seems we were to witness this great event.
Okir says: We should rally a hunt. There will be a feast to prepare.
Khanam Matra Sarest says: Indeed, Sansok. It is a happy day for all of Azeroth’s kin.

The Catalogers, who need our help finding the film they’ve lost…

Cataloger Wulferd says: Gah! Where is that spare film? I can’t believe we lost that bag when we were swept over here!
Cataloger Coralie says: I don’t see it anywhere. It must be on the beach somewhere!

Cataloger Wulferd says: Thank you, <player>! Now, back to capturing the very first photos of the new World Tree!
Cataloger Coralie says: Oh, I wonder if there will be any delightful Dream creatures there to photograph! Exciting!

The Gnolls – where we find our old friend Mon-Ark is happily monarch-ing!

Gnoll Mon-Ark says: ME SEE TREE! Big and pretty. Smells like life.
Gnoll Follower says: Life?
Gnoll Follower says: Tree?
Gnoll Follower says: Meat? Where meat?
Gnoll Mon-Ark says: Me lead gnolls to find life tree. But rot also likes life trees.
Gnoll Mon-Ark says: Wratheye will want sick tree, friend-meat. A good Mon-Ark knows!
Gnoll Follower says: MON-ARK PROVIDES!
Gnoll Follower says: MON-ARK PROVIDES!
Gnoll Follower says: MON-ARK PROVIDES!

The Furbolg,

Radza Thunderclaw says: We have come from Longclaw Islands. We heard whispers that something was soon to happen, but this…
Adday says: It lives and breathes, The Isles welcome it, What else will it bring?

And the Tuskarr, who need our help rescuing their Gnoll friend Scaps from drowning,

Scaps says: WHERE FEESH? WHERE?
Hanu says: Scaps! <Player>, would you bring him back to shore? We were pushed here when the tree came through!
Nau says: Scaps went splish!
Scaps says: NO! ME WILL DO IT!
Norukk says: There now, Scaps. We can have an impromptu picnic!
Hanu says: Thank you, <Player>!

Once everyone’s safe and accounted for, Merithra tells us that the Night Elves are preparing a ceremony to welcome Amirdrassil, and establish a new moonwell. We head to the central encampment to meet with Tyrande Whisperwind.

Night Elves from all over have come to take part in the ceremony. Tyrande has us accept offerings from Rensar Greathoof – who offers as a beacon of courage some soil from the Dreamgrove, as a symbol of when they fought back the Nightmare; Cerellean Whiteclaw – who offers as a beacon of love a pendant of his beloved Anaya Dawnrunner, who died in the War of the Ancients; Delaryn Summermoon – who offers as a beacon of hope the druid talisman of her love Ferryn, who died in the War of Thorns; and Moon Priestess Lasara – who offers a tabard from Darnassus as a symbol of the kaldorei’s devotion and strength. Night Elf players can also make a personal offering at this point!

Finally, the ritual is ready to begin, and the New Moon Ritual cinematic plays.

Tyrande: Children of the stars, it has been a long journey to this moment. Our people have fought, suffered, and sacrificed so much. And yet here, in the shade of Amirdrassil’s young boughs, we may at last begin to heal. Unto the souls who now watch over this sacred place, we offer our blessings. Symbols of dedication, strength, and love. Unto this moonwell we offer this precious vial, the last waters saved from the temple of Darnassus. May they bathe Amirdrassil in Elune’s radiance, and bestow her blessings upon this place–Bel’ameth–the arms of the goddess. In her embrace, may the kaldorei finally know peace. Elune-adore.

Afterwards, it’s time to celebrate! We pick up a platter and serve various tables – people from all over have come to join the Night Elves in celebration – dragons, dracthyr, and drakonid from all over the Isles, Tuskarr, Niffen, Furbolg, Wild Gods, members of all the Dragonflight factions, several famous heroes of Azeroth… even denizens from Ardenweald. In fact, some of Ardenweald’s spriggans are causing trouble, and Merithra asks us to help put an end to their pranks. Tyrande and Alexstrasza discuss the hope and unity of the future. Delaryn Summermoon is visited by the wisp of Ferryn – at long last, the Night Elves who died in Teldrassil are wisps. Khadgar, meanwhile, seems distracted – and a worried Kalecgos asks us to bring him a drink.

The longer we stay at the party, the more we hear rumors of threads we happen to know will lead to the Worldsoul Saga… Thrall and Jaina can hear a voice calling to them. Khadgar, as it turns out, is concerned due to reports of the mysterious Harbinger Xal’atath.

Eventually, Ysera asks us to meet her at the moonwell. Here, Kalecgos and Jaina finally run into each other, and we get to see the two former lovers reunite over soup.

A reforged Tyr and Koranos are also here, with a stay a while that doesn’t work – suggesting this questline was never meant to open up on live servers before the completion of the Tyr questline that only unlocks next week.

But it’s time for Ysera to say goodbye, to return to Ardenweald, so that Malfurion may awaken and return to Azeroth.

Alexstraza: I am so grateful we had this time together.
Ysera: My beloved friends. With the aid of those gathered here, Amirdrassil blossoms all around us. Do you remember when you first held its seed in your arms, Tyrande?
Tyrande: Of course. I cradled it as I would a child and promised the souls within to honor their sacrifice.
Ysera: And I swore to you I would do everything in my power to protect it. We have both kept our vows. It is time I return to Ardenweald to restore the balance and repay a debt to an old friend.
Merithra: Mother… I thought you came back to ensure that I would–
Ysera: My precious child. You are strong, compassionate, and wise. And you have become the leader I knew you would. You did not need me to guide you.
Merithra: Mother, I will always need you.
Ysera: I shall not be far. I am so, so proud of you, my heart. Remember–all time is borrowed. And in this, there is beauty.

With that, we are ready to conclude the final chapter of Defenders of the Dream. However, while Amirdrassil is the final raid of the expansion, we’ve been promised more story is still to come in minor patches. And things are already happening on the PTR…

It’s also worth noting completing this chapter unlocks the blue-and-white recolor of the heritage armor for Night Elf players!
