How to Upgrade Covenant Armor Sets

What if you sold or disenchanted your Covenant armor because you got a better drop? Fear not — once you’ve earned it, you can acquire a replacement from a handy Covenant Armor merchant.

Who Upgrades Covenant Armor?

There are NPCs in each of the four Sanctums who will upgrade Covenant armor. You can also upgrade your Covenant armor from the PvP armor upgrader in Oribos.

NPC Name Sanctum Location Description Coordinates
Forgehand Phillo Elysian Hold Lower level near Soulbinder /way 57.5, 30.4
Goreguts Seat of the Primus Southeastern room /way 57.3, 48.6
Craftsmaster Lamda Heart of the Forest Near southern exit /way 46.9, 56.6
Guy Yearmo Sinfall Lower level, upper northeast corner /way 72.8, 26.6
Aggressor Zo’dash Oribos The Enclave /way 34.8 56.6

If you have Covenant armor that needs to be upgraded, click on the Upgrade NPC. You will see the following interface (familiar to those who have upgraded PvP armor):

Drag the item you wish to upgrade, and if you can do so, you will see a preview of the upgrade. This includes what stage you are on out of 7 potential upgrade levels, what the upgrade will do, and how much it will cost in Reservoir Anima:

Upgrades By the Numbers

The earliest pieces you get from your first campaign levels start at iLevel 155 (Level 1/7). Each upgrade level from 2/7 to 7/7 opens after completing a specific chapter of your Covenant campaign. Each upgrade level costs Reservoir Anima, increasing by 0 Reservoir Anima for each level of the upgrade. Fortunately, you will acquire these items at higher levels as you go, so you won’t have to upgrade most pieces up from iLvl 155.

Here is a chart showing each level, what chapter needs to be completed to earn the upgrade, new iLevel, and how much it will cost:

Replacing Lost Items

What if you sold or disenchanted some of your earliest pieces because you’d gotten a better drop and thought they weren’t useful anymore? Good news: you can easily replace any lost items you’ve already earned. Visit the Covenant Armor merchant next to the Covenant Armor Upgrades merchant, and they will be happy to sell you a replacement item for 0 Reservoir Anima — with a catch (there’s always a catch!).

Any items you earn up to and including Chapter 5 of your Covenant campaign will only be replaced as base iLevel 155 Rare items, meaning you will need to pay more Reservoir Anima than you might have done otherwise to upgrade them fully. Any items you earn in chapters 6, 7, and 8 can be purchased as either level 5/7 or 6/7 Epic pieces, depending on when you earned the original item.

Since different classes and campaigns award different items at different times, there is no “set” order to what is available and when (Wrist armor may be available at Chapter 3 for one class and Chapter 5 for another). You will need to look to see what you have and what you’re missing.

You may only purchased replacements for items you have earned in-game by completing Covenant chapters. If you’re on Chapter 5, you can’t purchase an item you could only earn in Chapter 7.

The following vendors sell replacement Covenant armor pieces:

Slayer Araya Seat of the Primus Southeastern room /way 57.3, 48.6

Gregor the Pallidblade Sinfall Lower level, upper northeast corner /way 70.6, 24.8
