2023 spanned 3 seasons and a lot of these entries show what players looked up or searched the most on the Retail site! Most of these entries are Dragonflight related, however there’s a couple from previous expansions that are still very popular.
Professions seemed to take up the most of the awards this year, with Elemental Lariat showing up on two lists!
Items
- Elemental Lariat – The premier item of Season 1 as every class had one on their best-in-slot list during that time, and the pattern was super rare and initially cost around 10 million gold.
- Dragon Shard of Knowledge – A very coveted profession item that grants Artisan’s Mettle and extra Profession Knowledge. With Profession Talent trees and crafted gear being very powerful, these were a coveted drop and could drop from a lot of activities!
- Onyx Annulet – A very powerful Ring that was released in Patch 10.0.7 that was intended to be an upgrade for all players. It was intended to be replaced in early Season 2, however this ended up not being the case for a lot of players and Blizzard decided not to nerf it until 10.1.5 so it remained on a lot of Best-in-Slot lists.
- Prophetic Twilight Stone – Combined with the Onyx Annulet, it was one of the gemstones that had a positive feedback loop and caused it to be so powerful.
- Frosty Soul – A crafting material that is frustrating to get. It’s needed for many special crafts including the Evoker Legendary! This was originally harder to get as well before they made it much easier to acquire in a patch.
- Spark of Ingenuity – The most important and time-gated Crafting Resource in Season 1. You got one every other week and allowed you to craft a very very good item.
- Signet of Titanic Insight – The crafted ring that most people are able to craft with their desired stats that can also contain an embellishment such as the amazing Alchemical Flavor Pocket
- Fiery Soul – Similar to the Frosty Soul, a similar crafting material that is frustrating to get and was also needed for the Evoker Legendary.
- Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak – Hailing from Mists of Pandaria, this vendor mount is one of few that you can use to repair and vendor everywhere. This one comes with a transmog vendor as well and transmog is important!
- Primal Infusion – A crafting reagent in Season 1 that allowed you to craft gear at a higher item level. This item is also awarded when you hit max renown with any of the main 4 Renown factions.
Quests
- Balance of Power – Hailing from Legion, this questline takes you through dungeons, the Emerald Nightmare and Nighthold raids, for an artifact appearance (which includes unique Druid forms). This was made Account-wide in Patch 10.0.7!
- Community Feast – Yes Chef! A fan-favorite public event’s quest that had a small chance of awarding Alchemical Flavor Pocket worth lots of gold.
- To Dragonbane Keep! – Another public event’s quest that was done a lot in the Pre-Season and Season 1!
- Revival Catalyst – The Creation Catalyst quest for Season 1, where you had to do activities each week to get your Catalyst charge.
- A Creche Divided – This quest was popular because the Embers of Neltharion achievement lists this name as a step and there was one additional quest you needed to complete in order to achieve completion.
- The Shadow of His Wings – This was part of an optional quest chain in the Waking Shores. It was relatively bugged early on in the expansion.
- Hidden Legacies – This is the first quest to the Forbidden Reach quest chain.
- A Head for Metal – This quest is how Blacksmiths unlock the pattern for Plans: Obsidian Seared Alloy, a very common reagent for crafting Gear!

- Great Crates! – This weekly Emerald Dream quest awards you some reputation for some profession reagents.
NPCs
- Treasure Goblin – The main feature of the Diablo crossover event and could spawn in different zones at different times. Dropped unique cosmetics, Horadric Haversack and the Baa’lial Soulstone pet.
- Sorotis – The turn in for Titan Relics for Valdrakken Accord reputation.
- Breezebiter – A rare in the Azure Span that drops a mount, Reins of the Liberated Slyvern.
- Yries Lightfingers – Sells the Magmammoth Harness for the Loyal Magmammoth mount.
- The Great Swog – A vendor for coins that can be fished up from around the Dragon Isles.
- Norzko the Proud – The vendor for the Dragonflight Season 2 Master Omni-Token, allowing you to get a piece of Tier Gear.
- Ponzo – The Profession vendor in Zaralek Caverns where you could trade your Barter Boulder and Barter Brick for Profession Knowledge, collection items or items to trade for profession recipes.
- Rabul – The Artisan’s Consortium Quartermaster which sells Profession Knowledge and Recipes.
- Spinsoa – This vendor allows you to trade Unearthed Fragrant Coin for Whelpling or Drake Crests in Season 2, and also contained the BoA Mythic+ gear, Volcanic Equipment Chest.
- Zenet Avis – A rare that has a 100% chance to drop an egg that hatches into the Zenet Hatchling mount after 7 days.
