We’ve datamined a Shadow Flame weapon enchant spell effect that visually imbues weapons with the molten fire and void powers found within Aberrus and are strongly associated with the corrupted members of the black dragonflight. It’s unclear whether this Shadow Flame weapon spell effect is associated with Shadowflame Wreathe or will be a separate illusion as there are currently no items associated with the effect. Regardless Shadow Flame looks quite spectacular, especially in game.

New Shadowflame Wreathe Weapon Enchant
The weapon enchant, Formula: Enchant Weapon – Shadowflame Wreathe is a drop from Magmorax, the 7th encounter in the raid Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. We’ve datamined some spells likely associated with Enchant Weapon – Shadowflame Wreathe to give an early preview of how this enchant might work:
The above suggests that the enchant will likely be a DoT based damage proc with a 40% or higher uptime. Unfortunately without further information, we can only speculate about other mechanics of the enchant.
For a potential analog, we can look at the most famous modern Flame Wreath spell found on the Shade of Medivh encounter in Return to Karazhan. Flame Wreath would surround a targeted player and if that player or another crossed the ring of fire the target would explode dealing fatal fire damage to all players.
Will Enchant Weapon – Shadowflame Wreathe cause us to spawn shadowflame wreathes underneath targets that will debuff those within or those that cross the wreathe? Sounds like a potentially cool concept, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
