Pings Coming in Patch 10.1.7
Morgan Day revealed that Pings are coming to World of Warcraft in Patch 10.1.7! You’ve probably seen pings in more modern shooter games and also MOBA games, and these pings are coming to WoW to help players communicate with each other.
Morgan Day
In 10.1.7, we’re actually adding a ping system. So something that you’re familiar with from DOTA, League of Legends, Apex, stuff like that, where there’s a ping system that has contextual pings where you can really quickly on the fly kind of communicate.
It will show a “thing” in game and it’ll have different options and you’ll be able to put it in the world or on a player or an enemy. Giving players that tool to more quickly communicate and if we give you great affordance, this is not only something that could be great for guilds but we also thing it’s also an important accessibility option. We love watching guilds who are participating in the raid content who might have some accessibility concerns. So that’s something that we’re adding that we think is important for people to be able to solve these problems that we’re creating for them.
We’ll have to see what kind of pings Blizzard adds to the game. For example, here are some pings from other games:
Lost Ark
League of Legends
While there is definitely an avenue for trolling, this will be great for both groups in voice and groups without voice. The amount of communication that can be added via quick fire pings is immense and the community will definitely benefit from an addition.
