New External Buff Filtering Added to Warcraft Logs
The WoW community’s longstanding frustrations over Power Infusion and external buffs are no secret to most players. External buffs, especially Power Infusion, can have a considerable impact on player performance and can make it difficult to for players to compare their performance to existing parses. Blizzard has largely identified this as a community issue that requires a community solution rather than a development one.
In the next chapter of developing a Power Infusion Community solution, Warcraft Logs, the primary source for WoW combat logging and statistics, has implemented external buff filtering for their DPS Dragonflight Rankings. Players will be able to filter out players who received an external buff making it significantly easier to compare parses with other players who did not receive any external buffs.
Unfortunately there are still a few limitations to the new options. Currently it’s an all or nothing filter; if you only wanted to filter a specific external buff or a specific number of external buffs, then you’re still out of luck. Additionally, this new feature is only available for DPS rankings, so healers will likely need to wait for this to be implemented for them. External Buff filtering is also not available for the Statistics section of Warcraft Logs.
