Since World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has been launched in April last year, developers at Blizzard continue to release new content, with patch 10.0.7 dropping this week, and finally ready to accept what’s going on in the Embers of Neltharion update. World of Warcraft vice-president and executive producer Holly Longdale, and game director Ion Hazzikostas, in a recent interview with Gamepur, shared some information with them about one of the latest technologies introduced to WoW.
The Trading Postis a new feature built for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight in January with patch 10.0.5. Players can earn Traders Tender, which can then work on the rotating variety of items, including equipment, battle pets and mounts. We asked the development team whether they had any early thoughts on what the new system was about to progress.
That’s going better than we expected if Im honest, said Longdale. In a lot of things we do is experimentative, but its discontent is based on the feedback I had. For some time, players wanted access to stuff that they could have not easily access to. And of course, by tying it to content people love activities because they’re just checking into the game. For me, there are many activities I can earn to get me amazing stuff. That was an experiment for community feedback and it went very well.
The Trading Post really is for everyone, added Hazzikostas. It’s so unique in that, no matter what your play style is, there is a way to fill the bar or play the normal game, or chasing after specific activities if you want to do that fast. Ultimately everyone likes cool-looking stuff, but I think part of this is also a expression of love and agency. It isn’t giving people a specific reward that people may not like, but rather giving one wide selection of options with the ability to pick the thing you think you’re the coolest. It was fun to see the start of this month and people looking forward to the new selection and checking the catalog. Christmas is the most good time of the year.

There is still a list of available items currently in World of Warcraft. But is there a chance that the Traders Outpost might resurrect retired items and allow players to pick up cosmetics which have since disappeared? This seems like an open issue to the development team.
That’s certainly possible, Hazzikostas said. I think that it’s a way to earn players the cosmetic rewards. One of the advantages of this system is that it detracts our artists in some way to just make a wide range of cool things without going to worry about, wait, what dungeon boss would it be really useful to drop something that looks like this?’
Sometimes, when it was difficult to integrate the pieces into specific content updates, I have been aware of these considerations. Trading Post literally allows people to evoke opinions. But, for example, if not, with some of the cheaper items such as color variants that are old look, like reds not present with a source or are taken out. Those are the simple things you can get for 100 Tender. We’re certainly open to continuing to explore the way that you can expand that as well as to recognize that players can spend their time outdoors.
As far as the Trading Post went out, the cosmetics upcoming rounds will be fined, and so far many issuesplayers have been experiencing.
