World of Warcraft Dragonflight started on May 9 and after only two months of starting the new season, players are running better keys than they did back in the first season.
If you look into Raider.IOs leaderboard from season one, you will see that the highest completed Mythic+ key was Court of Stars +29 during a Fortified week. While Dragonflight season two has two proud groups that have timed up to 30 Mythic dungeons in Underrot and Neltharus.
It’s odd – this year, when the game’s length lasted from December to May, no group has completed a +1-30 key, and a high-end player in the second season already completing better-than-midkeys. The highest-than-sixth-to-then multis, at the end of the season, you will get to a new record to find out how good that title is.
I think that players can get more success before a season begins. First, the gearing process is way faster with Shadowflame Crests and Enchanted Shadowflame Crests. This means that you can take the item level up and do the highest keys. Blizzard removed seasonal affixes, reduced the number of affixes and improved the existing frightened a more progress-oriented approach.
In addition to that, most mythic+ dungeons are simpler and have less lethal mechanics, especially if you compare these to places such as Algethar Academy and the Azure Vault in the previous season. There were tight timers, dozens of dangerous garbage packed around the dungeon and hard-hitting boss mechanics scattered around dungeons.
Classes and dungeons are grading rapidly and slowly as we get near the end of the season. Even though the upper-armers have no longer weakened the meta, a level like Mages has managed to get a high performance of 700,000 DPS from one pull.
This tells me this season is intentionally designed to be more easy than the past to cater to seasonal players than to full-time players. After you have finished your Mythic+ adventures, Blizzard hopes to take your break from WoW in Diablo 4. This approach will never compromise the game’s long-term health and reduce the playerbase. But hopefully this is just my take and season three is going to be a hit.
