From the maroon braided leather to the inlaid sand hourglass and even the dragon visage on top, this weapon looks custom made for Nozdormu.
The developers have stated in a few interviews that the focus for Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion will be the legacy of the Black dragonflight, but that the Bronze dragonflight story has not been forgotten and will continue in future patches. Is the creation of this scythe just a setup for those patches or will we see Nozdormu playing a role in the events of 10.1?
Regardless, it’s interesting to see a weapon for use in an Aspect’s visage form since dragons typically opt for combat in their dragon forms. Will we see Nozdormu engage in visage form combat with this new weapon or will it just be a focus for his time magic?
Is there a situation where the weapon was created to fight players in his visage form in an early phase of a future raid encounter? Ok that last one might be a bit out there, but if it isn’t then this weapon better be a rare drop because my Evoker needs this transmog.
We have seen Nozdormu wield another 2-handed staff previously in Cataclysm, the Staff of Dominance from Molten Core, but we agree it was time for an update.
The choice of a scythe is particularly interesting as it tends to be a rather rare weapon type in World of Warcraft. However, the scythes that do exist tend to be more notable weapons including the Balance Druid Artifact weapon, the Scythe of Elune, or the Scythe of the Unmaker wielded by the corrupted World-Soul Argus.
