Up first, Dratnos and Tettles tackle the 8 dungeons chosen for this pool! The returning dungeons were surprising to many, especially with the inclusion of Vortex Pinnacle, a dungeon from Cataclysm. There are some pain points such as Neltharus with the chain situation and, in Dratnos’ opinion, Halls of Infusion and Uldaman being a little more painful. In general, however, both Dratnos and Tettles prefer this season’s dungeons to last, with the lack of super easy dungeons like Court of Stars and Shadowmoon Burial Grounds (Underrot is close but not as bad), and the lack of super nasty dungeons like Temple of the Jade Serpent being a big plus of the season.

Affixes changed this season, with a big shakeup and the removal of several historically painful ones as well as the entire Seasonal Affix slot. We also saw the (admittedly rough at the start) implementation of several new affixes, which were massively improved through the PTR cycle and launched in a pretty good state. Dratnos and Tettles still have nitpicks with certain affixes like Raging and Bolstering, and also dislike the ‘passenger’ affixes of Incorporeal and Afflicted which can be ignored by some players in some groups and can be very heavy burdens on others.

Dispels and Interrupts have been important parts of dungeons where philosophy has been evolving. Interrupts in particular have improved a lot this season, with most enemies no longer having massively different behavior depending on whether they were Interrupted or stopped with a different CC effect. Dispels on the other hand have gotten worse, with the importance of Mass Dispel in several dungeons being the primary indicator. Checkpoints (or the lack thereof) are another area where Dratnos and Tettles still hope to see further changes, as wiping is already extremely punishing in Mythic Plus and they think the game is better when it’s more possible to recover from those wipes.

Finally, Upgrades and Gearing solely through Mythic Plus have both been massively overhauled this season. The new upgrade and crafting system meant that players could achieve very high levels of gear even if they only did Mythic Plus, though the best trinkets in the game overwhelmingly come from the raid which Dratnos identifies as a potential point of improvement.

What do you think about Dragonflight Season 2? Do you agree or disagree with Dratnos and Tettles about the broader direction of the game mode and the changes that have been made? Would you like to see a Seasonal affix return?
